Keepin’ It Real

This is me.

This is an owl on my head.

If you are interested in ramblings about overseas travel, books, measly cooking attempts, horrible puns, photography, random music, amazing friends, and cutting the cheese—this site is for you.

A few years ago, I attempted to start a blog. After hours of perfecting my title font (because let’s face it, that’s extremely important), background, and website name, it was time to write the obligatory first post; unfortunately, my mind went blank. My chest deflated, and my dream of becoming a superstar blogger fell apart.

Looking back, I think my problem was that I was afraid of taking that first step towards improving my skills as a writer and creator; I was too afraid to explore the limits of what I could do. Even though it has lessened some, that anxiety still exists today. It manifests itself when I am writing papers, crafting meals, interacting with others, and when I’m alone with my thoughts. Back then, I had overlooked and ignored a key piece of advice given to me by my mom:

“Keep it real.”

So, that’s what I’m doing now: I’m keepin’ it real and giving you my slice of life. My hope is that one of my stories or photos inspires you to test your limits, explore the world, and find a new appreciation for the people, places, and things around you.
